The Never-Ending Trend

By the Devil Wears Marc Jacobs

Denim has forever been a trend, one which some designers love, and others love to hate. Worn tight and capri length in the 50's, long and bell-bottomed (some with patches) in the 60's and 70's, high waisted and speckled in acid wash in the 80's, painted in an array of colors in the 90's, and today it seems distressed in the newest fad.

Denim is an easy go-to, to pull off a classic, trendy, or even pulled together look. It is easy to wear, and looks even better on you!  Blank Denim has definitely made this possible, in making their cool, downtown looks easy to wear and afford. All price points for this season are under a cool $90! Whether its shorts, skinnies, colored, frayed or distressed all their denim pieces are chic and affordable. Spending never looked so good!

Dazzle Them with Sparkly Sequin Accessories

Sequin_partners
Infuse demure and classic with a bit of glittery glam and you will instantly up your style factor a few notches. We are loving a bit of sparkle (used sparingly) in the form of a sequin cardigan or sequin tee worn with denim, or black pants. Dazzle them with a knock out statement sequin clutch such as this Prada ombre style or make your toes twinkle with a pair of sequined ballet flats. The sequin wearing rules require complete restraint or you could be mistaken for a stray fireworks accident this Independence Day.

Summer $avings

By The Devil Wears Marc Jacobs

Summer is officially here, and I for one am stoked!  Lazy days by the pool, homemade sangria, outdoor dinner parties....ahhh, love!  It is my favorite season, and I got to look good while enjoying it , but with my tiny budget for new clothes Bergdorf just doesn't cut it anymore! Thankfully I found my new Forever 21, it's called Lulu's.  The collection of clothes is remarkable, everything in stock is up to the latest trends, amazing pigments of color for the upcoming warm-weather months, new inventory appear weekly, and the prices are right!

I am really digging a ton a few Mexican inspired getaway pieces right now. ANA34078black This statement necklace is hot, and also comes in hot pink for even more flair! ($29)

HOTDwhs3532eBa A mix of tribal and trendy, love the pockets ($28)

Mmdazzlenewa Oh-wee! These python puppies are so South Beach, for those warm summer nights in style! ($34)

NewARKbt4424bB This beautiful bo-ho top can stand alone with a pair of slim trousers. It sort of has a Bollywood feel to it, so sexy with gold chandelier earrings! ($46)

MOONmd9302B Last but not least the new onesie, the ubiquitous romper. It's burnt orange hue makes this piece all the more fantastic, but just in case add sky high wedges to complete the look! ($39)

Call of The Wild: Leopard Print Handbags Return for Fall 2009

Leopardhandbags

As a tribute to the new fall season which is flowing into stores as we speak, the leopard print accessory is on the prowl again. Love ‘em or hate ‘em leopard print is the trend that seems to return with out fail. If used sparingly leopard print handbags add some graphic interest to your favorite LBD or all black ensemble. The Jimmy Choo Mandah hobo bag is patched with solid leather which diffuses the leopard print to prevent leopard print overload. Look for graphic batik or faded leopard prints which pair rather nicely with denim such as the Lauren Merkin ‘Eve’ clutch.

Shown here are some picks for leopard print handbags (from top to bottom):

Christian Louboutin Leopard-Print Pony Fur Clutch - Leopard, $940.00 at Saks.com
Yves Saint Laurent Palma Leopard Print Canvas Tote, $599.99, at Overstock.com

Neon Pink Flashback Inspiration

Neonpink

Think PINK this summer as we transition into fall. The ’80s influence continues and we are loving the sizzling hot hues, especially neon hot pink. The stark contrast of neon pink with black looks fresh and fun for clothing and accessories. Pair a hot pink shell blouse with an over sized black boyfriend jacket or skinny jeans, or go from head to toe in a hot pink asymmetric dress. There are also hot pink accessories such as this cheeky Alexander McQueen clutch, neon pink belt or pink thong sandals to choose from if you’re looking for just a dash of neon hot pink color.

On Trend Zipper Accessories Add a Dash of Punk Inspired Whimsy

Zipperdetail
Zipper detailed accessories add an edgy dose of ’80s punk to handbags and shoes this season. Add a slash of Sid Vicious inspiration with this fun trend for summer. Look for zippers that add an embellishment that is not purely functional. The zipper frill sandal by Pour la Victoire’s zipper “flower” is pure over-the-top whimsy. We also love the bold zippers and crystal zipper pulls by Christian Louboutin. Wear these zipper accessories with a pair of destroyed jeans and oversized Alexander Wang tank.

Spring Bling!

By The Devil Wears Marc Jacobs

As you all know jewelry is the hottest way to update your look without spending a load of cash. Why buy a new dress for $300 when you can get a fierce ring or a on-trend necklace for a fraction of that? Well when I found Leviticus Jewelry I knew I had hit the jackpot! Cool pieces like the Erin Wasson-esque Dark Harness, Draped Wrap, and the Charleston all had me pining for new neck wear!

Chic designer extraordinaire, Tara Levitin has made creating beautiful jewelery her vocation since launching Leviticus Jewelry in 2005, named after her late brother Levi. Her collection includes: rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, brooches, and cuff links. Most of the materials used have a old antique look and feel to them, like raw brass, copper and silver.

Levitin says her inspiration comes from her love of oddities, music and old movies. As I look through her collection I can definitely see her inspiration come through, but as I browse through the newer pieces I see grunge chic, model about town, and glam rock princess all rolled into one! Can't you just see Rhianna wearing the Nightmare Ring?

I can't seem to decide which piece to get first, which do you prefer?

Inspiration.

By The Devil Wears Marc Jacobs

Yesterday I didn't do much at work. Yes, I am admitting I was on the internet, no, not doing research for  work, but reading fashion blogs! And I kinda fell in love with one, or her, or maybe is it her fierce-I totally need to be reborn with straight hair, so I can work this look-haircut. If you have been in hibernation like I obviously have been, and have never heard of Karla's Closet, now is the time to listen up.

Her style is effortless: editorial chic, Parisian street meets Lady Gaga- yes that fierce! This youngster currently resides in Simi Valley, CA, is a student at FIDM with Lauren Conrad and Stephanie Pratt (yet has never met them), and used to be a hip hop dancer. Karla has quite the impressive closet, hence the reason I spent 20 blog pages worth, watching her style evolve from day one. I was most inspired by her hair, which has been through quite the transformation- from long and hi-lighty to pixie and Rhianna-esque! It is amazing, it what I would do had I been born with straight hair. But enough about that hair, what you really want to see is that style I've been bragging about, and the reason she is on my blog!
