Garden Update
Remember that Garden I planted a few months ago?
It is OUT-OF-CONTROL!
I should have known better than to think I would magically become the Suzy Homemaker I was, once upon a time. Especially with all of the traveling I have done this summer…
Luckily the flower garden took off on its own.
Here are some shots of the bouquets I picked.
The first vegetable that grew in my garden was a FREAKY Tyrannosaurus -Squash
Check this out! I’ve put a quarter on this shot so you can see the ridiculous proportions. Why did I plant squash anyway? I only eat it in soups in the winter.
The cucumbers totally freaked me out too. They didn’t turn out to be pretty and shiny like cukes in the store. They are spiky and hard to hold! But I finally picked one, and they are awesome.
The sweet peas were amazing but I ate them off the vine before anyone else in the family could enjoy them... selfish person that I am.
Here is my biggest garden debacle: I completely neglected to “cage” the tomatoes. (is that what they call it? Caging?). I don’t know what I was thinking. So while I am managing to grab some candy-sweet cherry tomatoes off the vine before they rot on the ground, I have a feeling I will be shooting myself when the larger heirloom varieties come in... Now I am waiting for Chinese eggplant and peppers.
Thank god for the drip system my husband put in.
Next year I’ll cage the tomatoes and hold off on planting the scary squash
