For those of you that know me, I am sure you are thinking it was only a matter of time before I started talking about things that no-one else talks about.
It all started the other night when I was out for drinks with 2 of my girlfriends.
One of my single friends mentioned that the man she is dating has a “man-scape”.
“A MAN-Scape?” My other friend and I lean in closer. “What is THAT?”
“You know,” My single friend responds, “He is groomed… down there.”
“How groomed?”
“Totally Groomed,” She responds
“Does he wax his “friends?”
“Ouch, how do they do that?”
“How old is this guy?”
“Is he gay?”
We pepper our friend with questions.
“Gee”, I say out loud. “I am not sure I would want to see that level of detail of my man’s ‘New England boiled dinner’. Plus, I like a man to look like a man. I love chest hair.”
This conversation of course leads to our personal grooming habits.
Soon we start to argue “the standard” for fashion “down there”.
Our conversation continues though 3 different bars.
One of my friends thinks that the new standard is bald.
Yes, bald like a cue ball.
Some of us argue that a man might feel grossed out by a woman who looks like a child.
Frankly this topic has come up before and I’ve found that gals I know in their 20’s are going with bald look. It’s the trend and my guess is it's generational.
“Gosh, I’m not quite sure I can pull off that look”
(Yeah, just like the bubble skirt…doesn’t suit my body)
“I mean, I don’t have the same “shape” (we’ll call it) that my 9 yr old daughter has.”
Is this a thing that only 20 year olds can pull off?
(Am I beginning to sound like Carrie from Sex in the City?)
I decide to poll a few male friends.
One is in his 30’s but is going on 25.
I ask him for his input.
What do most men you know prefer?
a) bald
b) air strip
c) triangle (just in front)
His answer: A
Gulp.
Two nights later the conversation continues with one of my friends' husband and his 40 yr old friend who has 2 daughters (15 and 2 yrs old).
The husband says, “groomed…well groomed. And by the way, I heard the male version is called a Man-Zillian."
The 40 yr old with 2 daughters says, “ It completely freaks me out to see a bald one! I have daughters!”
See? I think it’s generational.
I am DYING to know whether this fashion trend is generational or not.

Yeah, I heard from an esthetician last night that a "dorrito chip" wax is common. She also said that 50% of men do NOT like bald.

I think somewhere between B & C is fine. When I get waxed my significant other doesn't seem to notice or care much, so I just do it for myself. However, having everything waxed off seems too girlish for my taste, not to mention pricey and uncomfortable!

A) all the way! I'm 23 and I just started waxing, but I love it. Don't know how I've gone without it for so long.

Keeping it trim. It is a trimmed A for sure for both me and husband. Don't like no curly cues with fuzz stuck in it.
