Spring has finally sprung! The sun is rearing it's big head into our lives again, finally! I feel vitamin D deficient, need a St. Tropez spring tint on my limbs, asap.

It's time to start removing layers, and showing off more of that cooped up, hibernated body you've been hiding. Your décolletage in particular needs special attention this season, Cindy Crawford says she's been taking care of hers for over 20 years, and you should too. Break out the SPF, and layer your neck with the prettiest necklaces you can find.

The green movement has slowly been snowballing, into something so big, no one ever expected it! Especially here in San Francisco: we carry our own canvas grocery bags, shop for organic produce at the local farmers market, drive electric cars, or better yet take public transportation. It's only natural for us to take the next step into affordable Eco-friendly fashion!

Lisa Bittan has been doing her part, along with her partner in India, where they make beautiful scarves for Ya Living. The Ayurvedic fabric used for the scarf is 100% organic, and all hand-loomed, then dipped in organic herbs designed to enhance wellness and treat certain medical conditions. I was lucky enough to snatch up at gorgeous blue/gray scarf, helping with potential insomnia, and digestion problems!

The scarves are not only healing, but so attractive! They are ultra versatile, and chic. You can just pile on the material round and round your neck and make this statement accessory your own. This hot new design has barely been around for a year, but has definitely made an impact on the fashion community. Fred Segal and several boutiques in Southern California, and on the East Coast have already picked up the line and made several re-orders!

The scarves come in an array of colors, and now more designs are available.  Just last week Lisa debuted a new silk/batik line made from the same herbal colors. I love the black and white, with the tie-dye print at the top, and the ikat print on the bottom! I wonder what that helps with? Maybe it's for shopaholics--because I might just need that one too! 
The gift box that these precious scarves come in, are no exception when it comes to the global movement. the boxes are either sewn by hand from the material of a tree native to India, or hand painted with traditional Indian art. This is one trend that is sure to become a classic!

    On Saturday night I had the pleasure of attending a bad ass concert! It has been ages since my last one, so I was stoked! The San Francisco weather was good: a crisp winter night, no rain, and tons of anticipation for the famed Lady Gaga! I had purchased these tickets months ago, at exactly 10 PST, when they went on sale; its a good thing I did, because in under an hour her two shows for San Francisco were sold out! I heard scalpers were re-selling tickets they had purchased for up to $90, when I got mine for under one third of that!

    After a couple of drinks, the bf and I made our way to Mezzanine, where we commence our forever and half 45 min wait before we are actually let into the venue. Let me tell you...the wait was not so bad, after I figured out people watching is exceptional at night, as lady gaga imitators in all shapes and sizes click clacked down the street in their four inch stilettos! There was a plethora of latex leggings, mini mini's, hair bows, and gaggle of girls and gays nearly frozen to death had it not been for a concoction of vodka and red-bull pulsing through their veins!

We missed White Tie Affair, and barely got there in time for Chester French. But we knew to push to the front when the star of the show, showed up on stage in her robo-cop outfit, stunna shades, and newly coifed bob! I am drooling, she is so  f***ing freakin amazing, can you say girl crush?! Ahh if only I had the courage to run the streets wild with nothing but panty hose and a 3010 style bodysuit-- so liberating--wait maybe when it gets warmer!

We left the fantastic show singing...."pa pa pa pa pa pa pa poker face..", with her lyrics ringing in our ears! Lady Gaga not only is a showstopper, and a true artist, but she can actually sing! Perez Hilton dubbed her "The Princess of Pop". If you haven't heard of her (I'm sure there are not many of you), run to computer and download: Paparazzi, Poker Face, Love Game, Just Dance, her whole cd if possible, and get you some Lady Gaga in your life!
   

Fake Bake: The only tanning product to use!

Personally, there is a point in winter where I just can’t STAND to be pale anymore.
I usually manage to scoot off to Mexico or the Virgin Islands around Christmas.   But this year, it just wasn’t in the budget.

Lucky for all of us that share in the misery of pasty-white-blahs , there is a plethora of tanning options out there that will give us the mid-winter glow we desire. 

I  have tried a TON of tanning products and wrote about a few in a blog back in August 2007.

So, when I was asked to try a product called FAKE BAKE, I knew I would be a well experienced critic.
For me, there are a few key things that I judge tanning products on:

1)    Quality of the color
2)    Smell
3)    Ability to apply evenly without streaks.

Fake Bake, in my opinion received perfect scores in every category and is even better than the spray on tanning booths.

I had to option to test several of FAKE BAKE’S formulas:  spray airbrush, mouse and lotion. I prefer  the lotion. 

FAKE BAKE products contain a “color meter” which is like a pre-bronzer so you can see that you are applying evenly.  The color of the bronzer gave me an instant lift!  I looked like I just stepped off a beach!  Finally, I have to say that there is very, very little of that burnt skin smell.. a scent which I have found EVERY tanning product to contain.

At the cost of $24 a bottle, and with such a perfect experience,  I can see why FAKE BAKE is a favorite amongst celebrities. 

I am throwing away the other tanning products I have in my beauty cabinet.  Good-Bye Winter White Blahs!

One of my favorite pastime's is reading fashion blogs around the world, I find fashion overseas to be fantastic--its so expressive, and chic, with an "I never try too hard" vibe.  Hande's Closet is no exception. Hande' Closet is a daily photo diary of outfits from a Turkish student studying Physics, who has a flair for putting together outfits like nobody's business. Lets just say I have never seen a Physics student dress like this. She can recite Newton's Laws while styling herself in the latest Lanvin, Burberry and Marc Jacobs!

To further enrage the fashion challenged, this stylish, brainiac has the looks to rival--dare I say--some of the most sought after amazons of the Euro catwalk! Can you say Turkey's Next Top Model? Tyra sign this girl up, better yet give her the top prize and put her in front of the camera with Giles Bensimon. This stunner needs no intro to modeling 101, she's been posing in front of her Nikon since last year, and already has close to 5,000 views.

Hande's look is reminiscent of the grunge rock chic look splashed all over the William Rast collection at NY Fashion Week, think: acid wash denim, fur, and tons of studs. Although her look changes often (it can be soft, rock n' roll, or trendy) it's always something I can see myself stealing wearing! I love that Hande has been displaying some of her DIY pieces, i.e. her awesome studded beanie!  Some of my favorite pics are displayed below, as well as her homemade beanie. Enjoy!
